Freezing fresh Strawberries

June 26, 2010

We picked a total of 6 baskets that were 4 qrts each of many many yummy berries!  But Oh what to do with Sooo many berries?  Well, i froze a good half of them!

Seriously- this required ALOT of work!  How do you freeze fresh berries?

1. Wash the berries.

2. Cut off the stems and trim the innards (aka hull) the berries.

3. Lay them out on paper towels to dry.

4. Once they are nice and dry, line them up via a single layer on cookie sheets.

5. Freeze them, prefereably overnight.

6. Once frozen- store in zippy bags and date them!  They should stay good for about 6 months!
